Loix raced to victory at East Belgian Rally
|
After taking the win at the East Belgian Rally last week-end, Freddy Loix shared his impressions regarding both the event and the car he drove to victory, a Kronos Racing-prepared Peugeot Super 2000.
"The itinerary is tremendous, worthy of the world championship! I am proud to have come out on top despite the weather conditions which made driving extremely delicate," he said.
"In the rain this Sunday, I had to be careful of the omnipresent puddles which are a factor for someone opening the stages, but never did my Peugeot surprise me by its reactions," Loix added.
Co-driver Robin Buysman was positively proud of their run across the stages.
"Sitting beside Freddy in the Peugeot 207's cabin is a treat," he gushed.
"I have just been through one of the greatest moments of my co-driving career. It's also one of my best victories," Buysman soundly declared.
Team Principal Marc van Dalen was for his part quite pleased with the work of his entire staff:
"Even if we hadn't won, I would have been satisfied since the reunion between Kronos and Loix went perfectly. It did not take much time for the bonds which allowed us to win the Condroz Rally in 2003 returned.
"
Two partnerships, two victories – statistically a 100% success rate...
The next event will be Rally Turkey, to be contested in the Istanbul area during the first week-end of April. From that point on, the crew of Vouilloz/Klinger will join that of Loix/Buysmans to defend the colours of Peugeot Belgium-Luxemburg within the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
On a more dramatic note, the test session accident which claimed the life of Hans Goudezeune and inflicted injuries to Larry Cols last week was heavy on Freddy Loix's mind.
"I dedicate my victory to Hans and hope that Larry will recover quickly," Loix declared after an emotional moment of silence.
"I missed them this week-end. I would have by far preferred to fight them for victory."
